Lambert’s Downtown Barbecue - great place to eat in downtown Austin! 5/5 stars.

Yesterday, we went to Austin for a quick trip. Sixth Street was pretty fun, but overall, the city seemed a bit too “small” for my tastes. Last time I was there was for a college visit to UT-Austin the summer after junior year in high school; the campus was pretty empty in the summer. So this was my second visit.
We went to eat at Lambert’s Downtown Barbecue place, as I saw in a NYT piece. Great place to eat. A little pricey, but worth every penny. Really classy venue, and has some live music as well. We arrived there impromptu, and apparently there were reservations for the next 2-3 hours. Insane. Luckily, there was some space at the bar upstairs.
I got their Natural Beef Brisket and Spicy Deviled Eggs. Absolutely delicious.
Also visited the state capitol (brought back some memories) and Zilker Botanical Gardens. We were contemplating kayaking in the Lady Bird Lake, and taking a quick dip in the Barton Springs Pool but it was really hot outside so I was against sweating and becoming a hot mess.
It really does seem like a college town.
Texas weather right now is downright unbearable. Avoid going outside at all costs, unless you want to sweat up a storm. Gross.
Hopefully I’ll be back for SXSW or ACL someday.
